The museum of the castle of Dieppe has a collection of ivory objects, like this pretty frigate, presented in a transparent showcase that allows the reflection of the beautiful chandelier of the ceiling.

In the 17th century, an ivory trade developed between Dieppe and Guinea. The town became prosperous again thanks to the work of ivory, whose quality became famous throughout France and beyond. The castle museum of Dieppe today presents the largest collection of ivory in Europe with more than a thousand pieces finely worked. The town is also on the Road of the Ivory and the Spices which crosses the department and which will allow you to discover the various sites related to this subject.
